Chronoscope 191: That Crispest January Contrail

By John Walser

That crispest January contrail
is the string the world is on:

and I pull at it just a little:
the seam tightened sky:

how it snaps like a bassline
after I tie it off.

John Walser, a professor at Marian University, holds a doctorate in English from UW-Milwaukee. His poems have appeared or will be appearing in numerous journals, including Barrow Street, NimrodFourth River, Quiddity, The Pinch and december magazine. A 2013 Neruda Prize semifinalist, John is currently submitting three manuscripts of poems.
