I Will Google You Forever

By Georgia Bellas

I look for signs of life
as if you are another planet
and I am a space explorer.
Pressing my ear against
your Facebook profile
on screen, I listen.
I call your cell
and when you don’t answer
I press the phone to my breast,
leave my heartbeat
for a message.
I Google-satellite
your house,
peer hard
in each window,
my eye zooming closer
to detect any movement
until pupil meets pixel,
the smallest addressable
element you could hide in.
I will Google you forever;
somewhere online
an archive of you
must exist.
