Nina Sudhakar’s Matriarchetypes is the winner of the Bird’s Thumb 2017 Poetry Chapbook Contest awarded for a first chapbook. Final judge Lena Khalaf Tuffaha says, "These are poems of longing for the comfort of language as a bridge and a center, as a lens through which to see with clarity and with tenderness the woman behind each of the matriarchetypes—adventurer, immigrant, deity, diva, first homeland and keeper of memory."
