Trump as a Fire without Light #312

By Darren C. Demaree

New edges, holders of nothing, fuck you for tripping me just as I was learning to stride in a confident way. Now, I am on my back, dealing with you all of the time. I will never forgive you for pinning me so far away from actual beauty. I had almost found the exact center of my empathy when you sniped me.

Darren C. Demaree is the author of six poetry collections, most recently Many Full Hands Applauding Inelegantly (2016, 8th House Publishing). His seventh collection Two Towns Over was recently selected the winner of the Louise Bogan Award from Trio House Press, and is due out March 2018.
